St Finbar's - Glenbrook

Religious Education

We endeavour to live by our school motto of ‘Faith Truth Knowledge’ by living our faith in daily life, seeking truth in our relationships and building our knowledge.

At St Finbar’s, we encourage children to celebrate their faith through liturgy and prayer. Each class establishes a prayer focus representing the liturgical season or Religious Education unit of work.

Our staff have developed the school’s Religious Education plan which sees all units in the syllabus Sharing our Story taught over a two year cycle and linked to the liturgical calendar and parish sacramental program.

The true sign of our children’s religious education is their living out of our faith values. The children of St. Finbar’s are encouraged to live by the credo of our foundress Blessed Mary Mackillop who said ‘Never see a need without doing something about it.’ All children are called to action to make a difference in the lives of others through projects of assistance and outreach including:

  • Sponsorship of an East Timorese village school
  • Donation of mosquito nets to malaria affected villages in Africa
  • Annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas hamper appeal and Winter appeal
  • Support of Caritas Mission projects
  • Donations to community projects including Camp Quality, Rural Fire Service, Careflight and the Westmead Children’s Hospital.
These projects make a difference in the lives of others, and in the lives of the St Finbar’s community.
